Products Description
Test Probe 18 Ф8.6mm Small Finger Probe For Simulate Children Finger IEC 61032 Figure 12
Product Overview:
This probe conforms to the standard requirements of IEC 61032 figure 12 test probe 18, IEC 60065:2014 clause 9.1.1.3, etc. This probe is intended to simulate access to hazardous parts by children of more than 36 months and less than 14 years.
Features:
IEC 61032 Figure 12 Test Probe 18, also known as Test Probe B or "Cylindrical Rigid Test Probe," is a standardized test probe defined in the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) 61032 standard. This test probe is used to assess the protection against access to hazardous live parts inside electrical enclosures or equipment. It is specifically designed to simulate the size and shape of a human finger to evaluate the risk of electric shock. Here are the key characteristics and dimensions of Test Probe 18:
Shape: Test Probe 18 has a cylindrical shape, resembling a human finger. It features a rounded tip and a smooth, continuous surface without any sharp edges.
Diameter: The diameter of Test Probe 18 is 12.5 mm (0.49 inches). This dimension ensures that the probe closely represents the size of an average adult finger.
Length: The total length of Test Probe 18 is 80 mm (3.15 inches). This length includes the handle and the cylindrical probing portion.
Handle: The probe is equipped with a handle that provides a firm grip during testing. The handle is not included in the probing portion's length measurement.
Material: Test Probe 18 is typically made of electrically insulating material, such as non-conductive plastic, to prevent any interference with the test results.
IEC 61032 Figure 12 Test Probe 18 is commonly used in electrical safety testing to evaluate the effectiveness of the enclosure in preventing access to hazardous live parts. During the test, the probe is inserted into openings or gaps in the enclosure to determine if it can make contact with live parts that may pose an electrical shock risk. Compliance with the IEC 61032 standard ensures that electrical enclosures provide adequate protection against accidental contact with hazardous components, enhancing safety for users and maintenance personnel.
Probe Dimension:
Please refer to the relevant standards.
Take IEC 60065:2014 clause 9.1.1.3 as an example:
The test is repeated using small finger probes according to test probes 18 and 19 of IEC 61032:1997. This does not apply if the intended conditions of use prevent the apparatus from being accessed by children.
For verifying whether the LIVE PARTS touched, the probe is equipped with amphenol connector, recommended to work with our anti-shock probe experiment device or a 40~50V voltage indicator. Showing as following reference picture:
