Products Description
UL 496 Metal Shell Lamp Holder Safety Test Appratus LED Lampholder Testing Equipment
Product Information:
This cap of metal-shell lampholders security test apparatus s meets the requirements of UL 496 2013 clause 5.2.11, IEC 60238 clause 16.5 figure 12, etc.
It is used to check whether cap of a metal-shell medium-screw lampholder shall be secured to the outer shell such as the cap does not separate from the shell when subjected to a cantilever load, or the strength of the connection between dome and threaded entry.
The Metal Shell Lamp Holder Safety Test Appratus is a specialized testing device used to evaluate the safety and security features of lampholders, particularly those used in lighting fixtures. Lampholders are the components that hold and connect the light bulb or lamp to the electrical circuit.
The apparatus is designed to assess the resistance of lampholders to mechanical stress, ensuring they can securely hold the lamp and withstand normal operating conditions. It helps determine if the lampholder is capable of preventing accidental disconnection or loosening of the lamp during use, minimizing the risk of electrical shock or other hazards.
The specific details and components of the Shell Lampholders Security Test Apparatus may vary depending on the testing standards or specific requirements. However, it generally includes the following features:
Mechanical Loading System: The apparatus incorporates a mechanism to apply specific mechanical loads or forces on the lampholder. This may involve applying rotational or axial forces to simulate the movements and stresses commonly encountered during lamp installation or removal.
Please refer to relative standard requirements, take UL 496 2013 clause 5.2.11 as an example:
1.The lampholder to be tested, complete with interior mechanism, shall be mounted on an appropriate nipple.
2. Choose the appropriate threaded plug with attached shaft according to the lampholder to be tested, then insert it into the lamp opening.
3. The force gauge is hanged on the proper position and suspended from the shaft, then pull the force gauge downward so as to subject the lampholder to the appropriate cantilever load. The value of the cantilever load shall be such that the appropriate bending moment is applied at the point of attachment of the cap to the outer shell. For lampholders with threading on the outside of the shell near the open end of the shell (UNO thread), the load shall be 3.39 N.m (30 lbf-in), and for lampholders without an external thread, the load shall be 1.69 N.m (15 lbf-in).
4. During this test, the lampholder shall be rotated at an even rate through 360 degrees manually.
Technical Parameters:
Test Fixtures: The apparatus includes fixtures or clamps to securely hold the lampholder under test. These fixtures ensure proper alignment and positioning of the lampholder during the application of mechanical loads.
Force Measurement Instruments: Sensors or load cells are integrated into the apparatus to measure the forces applied to the lampholder accurately. These measurements help assess the lampholder's ability to withstand the specified loads without failure or detachment.
