Products Description
UL 60335-2-24 Figure 101.DVA.1 Articulate Probes 3.5-4.5 Year Age
Product Overview:
This articulate probe meets the requirements of UL 60335-2-24 figure 101.DVA.1. It is used to for hazard assessment for moving parts of refrigeration or similar products, the moving parts should not cause personal injury when touched by children between 3.5 and 4.5 years old.
The test probe is made of stainless steel with nylon handle, it is manufactured according to the standard figure.
The force is achieved by working with a force gauge, there is a M6 thread hole on the handle of probe which can match a force gauge.
Application:
When evaluating potential pinch points, the probes of Figure 12DV, of the Part 1, Figure 101.DVA.1 and Figure 101.DVA.2 cannot penetrate the opening, or the maximum force exerted by the moving part onto the probe is less than 22.2 N (5 lbf) at any location ACCESSIBLE by the probe.
Probe Dimension:

H | Cone shaped part at finger attachment | 20 |
I | Hand breadth (flat hand part), 5 percentile | 48 |
J | Wrist breadth (used for the hand thickness-flat hand part) , 5 percentile | 24 |
K | Hand breadth at finger attachment (flat hand part) | 36 |
L | Upper arm length, 95 percentile | a |
Notes:
1-The probes were designed with a center pin to rotate the hand with respect to the lower arm. That motion can be equivalently represented by rotating the probe.
2-The finger “tip” is developed to match the dimensions of the UL articulated probe. The diameter from the tip to the first joint them tapers from the tip dimensions to the finger diameter. The joints are spaced equally along the finger length.
3- The probe is designed to permit the hand to “bend” with respect to the arm using a hinge pin located 6mm (0.24 in) from the hand length (wrist end) and the hand is restricted in bending not more than 90° with respect to the arm.
a If the upper arm is required to evaluate a part it shall consist of a flexible tube attached at the end of the lower arm, as the exact position of the elbow cannot be readily determined from the data points chosen.
